Driving directions

Traveling from either Johannesburg or Durban: Take the N3 to Harrismith. Exit at the off-ramp to Bethlehem N5. After 5km turn left towards Phuthaditjhaba (Qwa-Qwa) onto the R712. Approximately 20km further turn left at the Qwantani Resort sign (gravel road S20).

From Bloemfontein: Take the N1 to Winburg. At Winburg take the N5 to Bethlehem. Stay on the N5. Approximately 40km further take the off-ramp to Kestell and Phuthaditjhaba (Qwa-Qwa) R57. Proceed for approximately 27km and take the Harrismith off-ramp (R712). 25km further turn right at the Qwantani Resort sign (gravel road S20).

Please note that the last 23km is a gravel road. First 7 km is relatively bad gravel road with corrugations and some very rock areas (This is the S20 after turning off the R712). The next 13km of gravel road starts on entering the Sterkfontein Nature Reserve and continues through the reserve up to the Qwantani Resort gate, This is mostly loose gravel, corrugated in places and with some loose rocks at times. Travel slowly and beware of animals, especially if travelling at night. The last 3km from Qwantani gate to the resort is loose gravel and quite rocky, and best if taken slowly. The Speed limit on all gravel roads is 40km/h.
